Marble (3D carved), wear-resistant paint, and the stone wall is edged with stainless steel

Standing prominently within the woodland landscape, Mist World (2024–25) by Dawei Jiao is a monumental relief sculpture that bridges industrial precision and the organic rhythms of nature. Spanning five meters square, the installation features 3D-carved marble panels finished with soft-toned, weather-resistant pigments and framed by polished stainless steel. Through a delicate arrangement of smooth, pebble-like contours, architectural lines, and concentric forms, Jiao translates the elusive quality of mist into physical geometry. Encased in reflective steel that catches the shifting light and shadows of the forest, Mist World invites viewers into a contemplative dialogue between human structure, materiality, and the living environment.
